In the 5th year, students perform trainings for the actual
medical practice on the scene (Bed Side Learning, BSL). Courses
of BSL are divided according to closely related pathobiology
so that students may understand the interrelation of diverse
subjects. In BSL, students are assigned to patients from whom
they learn the diagnosis and therapy of diseases and participate
in the case presentation as part of the programs in common.
From 2004 (Heisei 16), eight clinical departments have put
into operation “clinical clerkship” wherein students participate
on the scene in the diagnosis and therapy of patients as a
member of the attending team of doctors. Of note, the prerequisite
for the clinical clerkship is a meticulous supervision by the
tutor, defining the scope of medical activity allowable for
the students and sufficient informed consent from the patient.
By taking these matters into due consideration, our school
has been steadily enriching the clinical clerkship.
The 6th year students try to acquire the habit of vigorous
self-study, to consolidate the knowledge of clinical medicine,
and to prepare for National Examination for Physicians. |
