The Saitama Medical University was founded on the site of the present
Moroyama campus in 1972 (Showa 47), and has produced over twenty
and some hundred graduates in the past thirty and some odd years.
Reared according to the Founding Objectives of gRaising Competent
Clinical Practitionersh, these graduates are now actively engaged
in regional medical services nationwide, in the administration of
public medical affairs, and in research activities.
Entering into the 21st Century and having passed the initial stage
of solidifying the foundation, this school reaffirms the resolve
to advance with youthful zeal of being a most pioneering medical
school. By this time students in all six grades have been immersed
in the reformed educational system championed by the initiation in
1998 (Heisei 10) of the Integrated Six-Year Curriculum.
Numbers are telling the results. The number of applicants for the
entrance examination is on a steady rise every year, while the results
of the National Examination for Physicians has improved to the point
of 100 % among the graduates of 2003 (Heisei 15).
Concurrent with reforms in the system, we are directing our efforts
toward streamlining the educational environment for enrichment of
the contents through such activities as small-group learning for
rearing the habit of thinking and studying on one's own, the program
for nurturing a lofty code of conduct and humanity, and the Student
Exchange Program for attaining an international level of medical
expertise in both science and clinical practice.
We hope for every incoming student to grow through the six years
of study and clinical experiences at this school into a most competent
clinical practitioner with a lifelong study habit and societal perspective
to support the health of the people and to meet such expectations. |
